Early, pre 78, factory mounts will quickly fail under competition conditions.  Even with factory swaybars, they will eventually fail with only street use.  The later 78-89 factory brackets are much stronger, but are still known to commonly fail with competition use and stiffer swaybars. <item><title>Strut Modification, Raise Spindle & Gusset</title><description>FEATURES:     Raising the spindles on a 911 or 914 is the only way to properly lower the front of the car and retain the correct suspension geometry.  Since these cars are equipped with McPherson type front struts, Porsche designed the A-arms to operate through a specific range of travel.  By raising the spindles the car sits lower to the ground, but effectively preserves this desired range of travel and suspension geometry.   Your spindles are raised and welded to your specifications, depending on your application.   Gussets are added for improved strength and reliability.  Just like the factory RSR struts.   Struts are then bead blasted clean and repainted to match the original Bilstien or Koni color.  If desired, your spindles can also be de-cambered by up to 3 more degrees.  This allows for increased negative front wheel camber, which is needed for competition applications.  For 911s (69-89) and all 930s, 914s, 912s equipped with Bilstein or Koni struts. This competition series mount is installed within the original Boxster (986 or 987) mount, re-using the die cast aluminum housing and flat rubber isolator flaps that straddle the mount. Unlike Solid engine or transmission mount systems, the Semi Solid installation provides sufficient isolation from engine vibrations to protect your sensitive engine control electronics and instrumentation systems. The Boxster SS Racing Engine mount uses a 3 piece design, where a pair of aluminum hubs are completely isolated from the alloy housing by the elastomer pillow (orange part). This flexible interface between the two solidly mounted brackets - engine and chassis - is the key to managing destructive vibrations from being transferred between systems.     PN-W986SSEM  The Porsche O.E. Boxster mount use a combination of elastomeric and geometric features to masterfully balance the competing challenges of drivetrain location and NVH. The common failure mode in the 986 series parts has been addressed in the 987 series parts and the O.E. 987 mount display a more sophisticated architecture with revised geometry, plus a revision in general design and materials. The Boxster SS Racing Engine mount and the Porsche O.E. 987 mount share an elastomeric isolation design principal. The highest level of drivetrain location desirable in competition activities, is achieved by the Boxster SS Racing Engine mount and with this comes an increase in NVH. For this reason we recommend the 987 series parts for all street, street tuner and street driven AutoX cars.
